“Breathe in, deeper, exhale slowly… Now you will continue by splitting the wind with your bike after coming out of the water. Don’t lose your focus, your muscles are burning with pain as you pedal, this is nothing yet, I will see them while running soon… Breathe in, breathe in, breathe! As you enter the finish line in first place, this breath you take will be cut off with joy as you return to your country as a champion… But now breathe in deeper!”

Swim, ride, run.

This athletic effort that continues for miles is, of course, the stages of the challenging triathlon branch. In other words, it is the field where our athlete Sera Sayar represents our country. Born as the daughter of a triathlete father and a marathon runner mother, Sera is an athlete who started sports not as a child but while still in her mother’s womb. Yes, her beloved mother continued her disciplined runs until two months before Sera's birth.

Our athlete, born in 1992, was part of the Istanbul Swimming Specialization Club team when she was 7 years old and continued swimming and competing throughout her 11 years in elementary and high school. During this time, she achieved continuous successes.

She achieved successes such as 4 years of Turkey Championship in the backstroke category; Turkey Record in 100 meters backstroke in 2005; and the opportunity to represent Turkey abroad by being selected for the national team between 2005-2009. She also graduated from the Economics department of Boğaziçi University.

After her swimming successes, Sera began to engage in running as well, continuing her path by adding achievements in the Runanatolia Marathon in 2014-2015; the 2015 Istanbul Vodafone Marathon; and the Bozcaada 2015 Half Marathon; and in 2016 at the Barcelona Marathon.

Having participated in many Olympic and half-Olympic races in triathlon, she became the Turkey Triathlon Champion at the age of 22. When she set her sights on the longer distance of triathlon, Ironman 70.3, she participated in the Gloria Ironman 70.3, which was held for the first time in Turkey, and placed 2nd in the 18-24 age category with a time of 5:28. With this time, she also earned a slot and became the youngest female athlete to represent Turkey at the 2016 70.3 Ironman WC Mooloolaba. In the coming years, she has continuously represented our country in the USA, Spain, Denmark, South Africa, Turkey, and other international Ironman events, bringing joy and pride to all of us.

Sera Sayar, a white-collar worker, is the brightest proof of what can be achieved by focusing on goals with passion.

KONA

Sera's goal for 2022 is the Ironman 70.3 held in Kona, Florida, USA. We believe that after her victory in Spain, she will once again bring pride to her family and country with a win in Kona.

The champion athlete, who weighs less than 60kg, successfully swims, rides, and runs within a distance of 226 km, not only serves as an example to the athletes that follow but also provides us viewers with high motivation regarding success. We wish success to our athlete Sera Sayar, whose inspiring sports career we admire, in Ironman.

“Breathe in, take a deep breath, slowly let it out… Now smile and step onto the highest podium.”
